Sarah has over 15 years of experience of teaching the violin and viola from beginner to diploma level. She is currently Head of Strings at St Mary's School in Calne where she teaches individual lessons as well as directing the Junior and Senior string ensembles, co-directing the Symphony Orchestra, and coaching chamber music ensembles. As well as this, she co-founded the South Gloucestershire Youth Orchestra in 2008 (chosen to play at the Music For Youth National Festival in 2010 in Symphony Hall, Birmingham), co-founded the South Cotswold Youth Orchestra in 2012 (chosen to play at the MFY National Festival in 2014 at Adrian Boult Hall, Birmingham), and devised and led the 'Let's Play!' scheme for young beginners at Thornbury Youth Music. She has also held teaching positions at South Gloucestershire Music Hub, Tockington Manor Prep School, Gwent Music Support Service, and Encore-Coda Music Camp in Maine, USA. In addition to this, she has supported many young musicians preparing for University, Music College, or Scholarship auditions, adjudicated at Youth Music Festivals, and teaches privately at her purpose-built studio in Chipping Sodbury.
Sarah places the emphasis on fun in her lessons, which typically last 30 minutes, although many more advanced students opt for 60 minute lessons. She teaches both the ABRSM and Trinity syllabuses for those pupils wishing to take exams, and is always happy to accompany pupils on the piano where needed.

She also directs the String Sinfonia and Strictly Strings, conducts the Symphony Orchestra, coaches string quartets, and prepares pupils for exams, music college and university entrance auditions, scholarship auditions, and performances in local festivals and events, as well as helping to run workshops, concerts and open days.
Thornbury Area Music Trust
Sarah co-founded the South Cotswold Youth Orchestra, conducting them in many performances as well as being administrator for the Orchestra, and organising concerts, events and workshops. The Orchestra was selected to perform at the Music for Youth Festival in Adrian Boult Hall, Birmingham, including as part of a live internet link-up with other Youth Orchestras across Europe. She also devised the 'Let's Play!' scheme which allowed very young children to start learning a new musical instrument in large groups at TAMT's Music Centre, teaching both the violin and flute classes for the first phase of the scheme.
Gloucestershire Music Hub
As an 'associate music teacher', Sarah taught in a number of local primary and secondary schools. In addition, she co-founded the South Gloucestershire Youth Orchestra, which was the first orchestra in the area for advanced young players. In 2010 the Orchestra was chosen to play at Birmingham's Symphony Hall as an example of national best practice at Music For Youth's National Festival.
Sarah taught for 4 years in the North Monmouthshire area, teaching in several primary and secondary schools. She was also the director of the North Monmouthshire Junior String Orchestra, and tutored County Youth ensembles on their residential courses.
In addition to this, Sarah has also taught at Tockington Manor Prep School near Bristol, for Birmingham Music Service, and worked as a violin tutor at the Encore-Coda Summer Music Camp in Maine, USA.
