Violin Lessons in Bristol

violin teacher lessons South Gloucestershire Bristol Bath Sarah LoveridgeSarah is devoted to music education, hoping to inspire the next generation of musicians, and is a graduate of the Music Masters UK 'Musicians of Change' PGCEi programme, endorsed and accredited by Birmingham City University. She is currently Head of Strings at St Marys School Calne, and Pre-Prep Music Teacher at Beaudesert Park School. As well as this, Sarah has a well-established private teaching practice at her purpose-built studio in Chipping Sodbury, and alongside these roles she works as a Tutor for Gloucestershire Academy of Music on a freelance basis, teaching Early Years music classes and Whole-Class violin tuition, as well as musicianship classes for Blackbird Early Years Music in Bristol.

Previously, Sarah co-founded the South Gloucestershire Youth Orchestra in 2008 (chosen to play at the 'Music for Youth' National Festival in 2010 in Symphony Hall, Birmingham), co-founded the South Cotswold Youth Orchestra in 2012 (chosen to play at the 'Music for Youth' National Festival in 2014 in Adrian Boult Hall, Birmingham), and in 2015 she co-founded, devised, and led the 'Let's Play!' instrumental teaching scheme for groups of young beginners at Thornbury Area Youth Music.

Sarah has also held teaching positions at South Gloucestershire Music Hub, Tockington Manor Prep School, Gwent Music Service, and Encore-Coda Music Camp in Maine, USA. In addition to this, she has supported countless young musicians preparing for University, Music College, or Scholarship auditions, and worked as an adjudicator at Youth Music Festivals. Many of her own students successfully enter for ABRSM or TCL music exams when appropriate, as well as performing in festivals such as the Thornbury Eisteddfod, Devizes Festival, and Two Moors Festival.

Sarah's ethos and values promote inclusivity and diversity in her teaching, alongside a foundation based on Kodaly principles for the youngest learners to establish excellent skills in pitch, rhythm, aural skills and creativity. She emphasises fun and joy in learning for all of her students, regardless of age or educational setting, as this is a strong motivation to learn, work hard, and be inquisitive. Sarah believes anyone and everyone should have access to excellent music teaching, something she strives to achieve in every lesson. In her 1:1 lessons she tailors every session to the needs of the individual student, and for her curriculum teaching she plans schemes of work across a block of 5 or 10 weeks to take into account the long-term progression of the class. Sarah has high aspirations and expectations for every student and endeavours to help each individual, group, or class achieve the very best they are capable of, in line with their own personal goals and aspirations.
